State support for enterprises in Estonia

The Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund on Wednesday evening proposed measures to support enterprises most affected by the economic crisis. This plan must be approved by the Government.

It was proposed to compensate enterprises whose turnover and income decreased, and employees did not have a job. The support measures will last from March to May. The compensation will amount to 70% of the employee’s gross salary.

To receive compensation, the company must meet at least two of the three conditions::

  1. The company’s turnover decreased by at least 30% compared to the previous year of the same period.
  2. At least 30% of employees were left without work.
  3. Employees ‘ salaries decreased by at least 30%

The unemployment insurance fund compensates for 70% of the average gross salary for the previous 12 months, but not more than 100 euros. In turn, the employer has an obligation to pay the employee at least 150 euros, as well as pay taxes on salaries.

It is proposed to compensate in the period from March 1 to May 31, where the employer will be able to choose two months out of three for compensation.

According to preliminary estimates, these measures to support enterprises are expected to amount to 250 million euros.
